Douglas Gregory "Gregg" Sentelle

Douglas Gregory "Gregg" Sentelle, 68, of Brevard, passed away Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born in Asheville March 15, 1953, to the late Harry and Cleo Sentelle.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cynthia Gillespie Sentelle, and their two children, Nikki and Shane; two sisters, Dianne Gholson and Pam Whitener; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gregg graduated in 1970 from Brevard High School, worked at Ecusta for 30 years as a machine operator, and upon retirement went back to school and acquired an Associate Degree in Horticulture. He owned and operated Sentelle Tree Farm in Jackson County, N.C., for 25 years with his father, Harry Sentelle, and his brother, Michael.

He was a founding member of the Transylvania Farmers' Market, where he enjoyed selling his produce and chatting with customers. He was never happier than when he was riding the tractor through River Bottom Bounty Farm in Pisgah Forest, or tending to his crops.

He loved to ride around and view nature, especially over Pinnacle Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway. He was a devoted husband and father, and beloved by many for his dry humor, comical antics and kind nature. He loved storytelling and laughter and spending time with family and friends, where he provided entertainment through many an adventure.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church, where he was a lifelong member at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, with Dianne Gholson officiating.
