The following briefs are from the Thursday, Aug. 26, 1971, edition of The Transylvania Times.

•Mr. and Mrs. Fred Roscue Cook were found shot to death about noon on Tuesday at their home at 122 Allison Road in north Brevard, and Tuesday evening the Transylvania Sheriff’s Department reported that Mr. Cook’s brother had been arrested in Nashville, Tennessee, in connection with the shooting.

Fred Cook was an industrial enginner at the Olin Corporation in Pisgah Forest and was 29 years old.

His wife, Sandra, was 25 years old and taught school.
