Over two days, Aug. 17-18, 33-year-old Marine veteran Andrew Biggio held three events to honor WWII veterans.
First, at a book-signing reception at the Veterans History Museum of the Carolinas, he signed copies of his recently-published book "The Rifle: Combat Stories from America's Last WWII Veterans, Told through an M1 Garand."
Biggio, a police officer in Winthrop, Massachusetts, for the past nine years, displayed the 1945 M1 Garand rifle signed by more than 200 WWII veterans he has interviewed. The M1 Garand was the standard-issue rifle used by U.S. forces in WWII.
