2021 marks a 50-year anniversary in the U.S., but it’s not one to celebrate. It marks the modern beginning of America’s actual longest war – the War on Drugs. It was declared by then-President Richard Nixon, ostensibly to help GI’s who became addicted to heroin in Vietnam.
