The following briefs are from the Thursday, Sept. 2, 1971, edition of The Transylvania Times.

•Labour Day weekend will mark the fourth anniversary of the town of Brevard ABC store. Sales continue to increase every year, and the months of July and August this year mark the highest in the store’s history. Profits from the operation are divided between the town of Brevard and Transylvania County, with 75% to the town and 25% to the county.
