Transylvania Choral Society Returns To Live Rehearsals

Last updated 9/1/2021 at 5:33pm

The Transylvania Choral Society is pleased to announce that in-person rehearsals will begin again on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the usual time of 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. at the usual place of the Rehearsal Room at Brevard College’s Porter Center.

As TCS President, Andrea Brewer, put it: “We are absolutely thrilled to be back and able to see each other and make music in person once again.  We’re following Brevard College’s protocol, so everyone will have to show proof of vaccination at registration.”

The choir will be rehearsing “The Messiah” for its Christmas concert on Thursday evening, Dec.16, and also some festive songs to perform with the Brevard Philharmonic at their ever-popular seasonal concert on Sunday, Dec. 12.

As ever, all are welcome: there are no auditions – just turn up and tune in your vocal cords. Registration for the choir begins at 6.30 p.m. next Tuesday and, as usual, to test the waters as it were, singers are able to attend the first three rehearsals without any obligation to commit to the season.  Fees for the choir are $40, an increase of $5 to help cover the disappearance of local business sponsors last year.

Since reports both last year and this have indicated happier figures than was first anticipated for many commercial enterprises, it’s hoped that generous business sponsors will pick up again.TCS never abandoned singing: from September 2020 through April 2021, it was a virtual choir, meeting via Zoom, and performances were put together by multi-layering each chorister’s voice to create a united sound.  To hear these and learn more, visit Facebook or go to http://www.transylvania choralsociety.org.
