Council To Tackle Affordable Workforce Housing

After hearing two presentations on housing, particularly the lack of affordable workplace housing, Brevard City Council agreed Monday to hold a workshop next month to discuss the issue and begin creating a plan of action.
The first presentation was an update from Brevard Housing Authority (BHA) Executive Director David Nash. The BHA currently operates five properties in the city that contain 374 residents, including 157 children.
Nash said 25% of the BHA’s income comes from tenant rent and that most tenants pay 30% of their income on rent and utilities.
