School Enrollment Numbers Increase

After a slight downturn in 2020-2021, officials say enrollment in Transylvania County Schools (TCS) picked up this year.

According to Brian Weaver, TCS assistant superintendent, total enrollment for this school year, including pre-kindergarten, amounts to 3,335 students.

Broken down by school level, there are 1,376 students in elementary school, 752 students in middle school and 1,141 students in high school.

The largest block are current ninth graders, who account for 326 students. Third grade is the smallest class, with 204 students.
