Brevard College Juried Student Art Show Set For Friday, Oct. 8

The Spring 2021 Best of Show winner was a sculpture titled "Inner Voice" by Lilyan Lund.

The Brevard College Juried Student Art Show will open on Friday, Oct. 8, with a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and an awards presentation at 6 p.m.

The juried competition is open to all Brevard College students, and their two- and three-dimensional works will be on display in the Spiers Gallery in the Sims Art Center through Nov. 5. The gallery is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This year’s juror is Alexis Meldrum, the curatorial assistant of the Asheville Art Museum.

At the opening, awards will be presented for Best of Show, first through third place, six honorable mentions, President’s Choice, Division Chair’s Choice, Alumni Assoc-iation’s Choice and Student’s Choice.

Images of winning artwork will also be published in the 2021-22 edition of the Chiaroscuro.

Winners will receive a certificate, ribbon and cash awards.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served outdoors, and masks will be required of all patrons inside the gallery.
