After a loss Friday against the Mountain Heritage Cougars, the Rosman High School Tigers face another tough opponent away at the Madison High School Patriots tomorrow night.
While not boasting a spectacular record, Madison’s two-win and three-loss tally is nothing to sneeze at.
Despite having a disappointing overall record of 56-135, Madison defeated Rosman in their last game in September of 2019 40-12 and has mounted a comeback to a small extent from a winless season last year.
Coach James Extine is in his second year as head of the Patriots and boasts some solid players in his lineup. Statistics for Madison have not been updated since Sept. 11, but despite that there are a couple of standouts.
Junior quarterback Caden Hilemon is one, with 87 passing yards recorded with 12 completed passes out of 26 attempts.
Hilemon is also a key rushing player, as well, the highest on his team with 67 yards across 14 carries.
The closest behind him is senior Zander Fender, running back and defensive back, with 40 yards, also across 14 carries. Their defense is an unknown quantity as no specific statistics have been posted publicly.
In the Monday edition of The Transylvania Times, Coach Dusty Robinson said that he’s looking full steam ahead on Friday.
“I told the guys in the locker room, our purpose in practice on Monday is to get ready to beat Madison,” he said.
Robinson also is under no illusions about his team’s current record and is looking to motivate them to the nth degree.
“If we’re going to turn the ship, this is a great opportunity. Madison is struggling too,” he said. “They’re going to be fired up…We’re going to be physical all week in practice, go out there, and prepare to win,”
Kickoff Friday is at 7:30 p.m.
