Oral Rabies Vaccine To Be Dropped On Transylvania

Beginning on or about Oct. 5, more than 500,000 baits containing an oral rabies vaccine will be distributed by fixed wing aircraft in Transylvania and other western North Carolina counties, according to a news release.
The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced Thursday it is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to help prevent the spread of rabies by distributing oral rabies vaccine for wild raccoons along western North Carolina’s borders with Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia.
