How the lobby looked in the 1960s.

It was a changing of the guard last week, as The Transylvania Times officially relocated its main office from Broad Street to Water Oak Suites on East Main Street.

The Transylvania Times operated out of its previous location since the 1950s, when the newspaper took over the building on North Broad that served as the former McCrary Auto showroom.

The facility allowed the newspaper to have its office and printing operation on one site. The Goss Comet printing press, which was installed in 1962, was located in the basement of the building and could print four-, six- or eight-page sections at...
