Recovery From Tropical Storm Continues

Nearly two months after Tropical Storm Fred wreaked havoc on western North Carolina – flooding homes, washing away roads and shutting down portions of Transylvania County – officials say relief efforts are ongoing, with local residents receiving assistance through varying state and federal programs.

Fred left a wake of destruction in its path, as parts of Transylvania County received up to 17 inches of rain in just a few days. For County Manager Jaime Laughter, the relief effort has been ongoing since the disaster hit and has been widespread throughout the community.
