Continuing their strong momentum, the Brevard High School cross country team came first place in both the men's and women's at the Armentrout Invitational on Oct. 6 at R-S Central in Rutherfordton.

Also represented at the meet were Avery, Shelby, Hendersonville, Charles D. Owen and North Henderson.

Brevard's men finished with 37 points, while the women finished with 42.

Lucy Murray (photo right) was top of her class, with a 19 minute and 52 second finish to the 5000-meter run.

For the men, Knox Witherspoon (photo right) and Abdi Green claimed the top two spots in the 5000-meter run,...
