Schools Maintain Masking Policy

In its regular meeting Monday night, the Transylvania County Board of Education voted 4-1 to keep the current mandatory masking policy in place.

Board member Kimsey Jackson voted against the motion.

Before the vote, Assistant Superintendent Brian Weaver shared the latest numbers on COVID-19 cases in the schools, including a look at overall numbers since the start of the school year. Since Aug. 2, there have been 449 COVID-19 cases among students through Oct. 18. As of Monday, however, there were only 15 cases.
