Maureen Copelof Wins Mayor's Race

Brevard Councilwoman Maureen Copelof will be the city’s next mayor after garnering nearly 50% of votes cast in Tuesday’s election.

Copelof received 1,067 votes (46.6%) to defeat her three opponents. Dee Dee Perkins finished second, getting 810 votes. Danny Hein was third, with 396 votes and Chuck Chapman received 17 votes.

The race began in the spring after current mayor Jimmy Harris announced he would not seek re-election after holding the position for 21 years.
