Some of you may have read about the controversial large sign installed at the new Clemson Plaza. What you may not know is the cost of this mistake. City Manager Jim Fatland was asked about the costs involved and it took a taxpayer to uncover the information.

The sign and installation cost city taxpayers just over $18,000. The original bid to remove it was approximately $12,000, but the city is now estimating it will cost just under $8,000 for the contractor, First Victory, to remove it.

So, the total cost thus far (this does not include the new sign) is approximately $26,000.
