Officials: COVID-19 Impacted School Data Results

As of Oct. 23, data shows that reading and mathematics proficiency for kindergarten through third grade in Transylvania County Schools (TCS) were below the accepted benchmarks.

School officials said they expected the declines and attributed them to the impact of COVID-19 and the disruption to schools that began in March 2020.

During last week’s Board of Education meeting, the school system’s curriculum and instruction directors, Carrie Norris (K-8) and Missy Ellenberger (9-12), gave an overview of the data results for K-third grade and other grades.
